About Brilliant Tutors
What is Brilliant Tutors?
Brilliant Tutors is a personalized digital coaching service for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and select AP exams. Every student gets an adaptive study plan, 30,000+ ultrarealistic SAT questions, 50+ full-length practice tests, and a 24/7 AI tutor named Sage, all reviewed by a mentor team with PhDs and MDs from Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, and UC Berkeley.
How does Brilliant Tutors work?
We build a personalized study plan around your goals, schedule, strengths, and weaknesses, then adjust it as you learn. You study in short, targeted sessions. Sage is always there when you need a hint, a walk-through, or a second opinion on your reasoning.
Who creates your questions and explanations?
Every item is drafted by a senior tutor, reviewed by a subject-matter mentor (PhD, MD, engineer, or researcher), trialed with a student volunteer group, and re-scored against student outcomes on the official SAT. Anything that doesn't read like the real exam doesn't make the bank.
Do you have a mobile app?
Not yet. Brilliant Tutors runs in any modern browser and is optimized for both desktop and mobile. We recommend studying on the same device you plan to use on test day.
Subscriptions & billing
How do I sign up?
Click "Start free trial" on any pricing card, create your account with email + password (or Google), confirm your email, set up your study profile, and you're in. Total time: about 2 minutes.
What does the 3-day free trial include?
Everything. Sage the AI tutor, 30,000+ practice questions, all 50+ full-length tests, the adaptive study plan, and insights. Full access, no feature limits, no paywalls. You won't be charged until day 4 — cancel any time before then and you pay nothing.
What's included in every plan?
The same thing — we don't do feature tiers. Monthly, quarterly, and annual plans differ only in the billing cadence and per-month price. Score-improvement guarantee covers every plan.
How do I cancel?
Go to your dashboard, open the Subscription card, click "Manage billing & cancel". You'll get a secure Stripe page where you confirm. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then. No confirmation phone calls, no retention gauntlet.
How does the refund / score-improvement guarantee work?
If you follow your study plan, log the required hours, and your score doesn't improve on a real test, email us at [email protected] with your before/after scores and we'll refund you. Full terms on the Guarantee page; for the complete refund policy (trial, guarantee, and cancellation pathways) see our Refund Policy.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), and direct bank debit (ACH) in the US. We're adding more options as our platform grows.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. From the Subscription card on your dashboard, click "Change plan" and pick the new cadence. Stripe prorates the difference automatically — you'll see the adjustment on your next invoice.
How do I update my card or bank account?
Dashboard → Subscription card → "Manage billing & cancel" → "Update payment method" in the Stripe Billing Portal. Takes 30 seconds.
Can I see my invoices?
Yes. Dashboard → Subscription card → "Manage billing & cancel" → your full invoice history is available with PDF downloads.
Is my account separate from my billing?
Yes. Your Brilliant Tutors account (email, password, study profile, progress) is yours forever. Billing is the separate subscription layer on top — you can cancel billing and keep the account, then reactivate later without losing anything.
Plans & billing
How does the free trial work?
Create your account, enter your payment info, and your 3-day free trial starts automatically with full access. At the end of the trial your card is charged for the plan you chose. Cancel any time during the trial and you'll still have full access through the end of the 72 hours.
Which plan do you recommend?
For juniors and sophomores, the annual plan is usually the best value, it covers multiple test dates and makes super-scoring easy. For students within a few months of the SAT or ACT, the quarterly plan works well.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at any time to stop renewal; you keep paid features through the end of the current billing cycle. Because Brilliant Tutors is a digital product with instant access, we do not issue partial or pro-rated refunds. See our Refund Policy for the full picture, or Terms for the legal language.
Content & coverage
How much practice content do you offer?
SAT: 30,000+ ultrarealistic questions, the largest SAT question bank in test prep, larger than any other service we've found. Roughly 14,800+ on Math (Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-solving & Data, Geometry & Trig) and 15,400+ on Reading & Writing (Information & Ideas, Craft & Structure, Standard English Conventions, Expression of Ideas), plus 30 full-length adaptive digital SAT tests.
ACT: 5,000+ questions and 20 full-length Enhanced ACT tests. PSAT: 4,000+ questions and 10 full-length PSAT tests. Plus dedicated banks for AP Biology, AP English Literature, AP US History, AP World History, AP Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC. The SAT bank grows every month.
Why "ultrarealistic", what's the difference from other prep banks?
Most prep banks are written by writers and approved by editors. Ours pass through four checks: drafted by senior tutors, reviewed by a subject-matter mentor (PhD or MD), trialed with student volunteers, and calibrated against real student outcomes on the official SAT. Items that don't behave like real ones never reach you. The result is practice that reads, paces, and traps the way the real Bluebook exam does.
Is your content up to date with the digital SAT and Enhanced ACT?
Yes. Brilliant Tutors was built for the digital SAT from day one. Our content matches the College Board's Bluebook format and adapts to the Enhanced ACT's updated structure. New SAT items are crafted, tested, and added to the bank every month.
Score-improvement guarantee
Do you offer a score-improvement guarantee?
Yes. Follow your plan, complete the required sessions, and if your score doesn't improve we will refund you. See the full score-improvement guarantee for terms and eligibility, and our Refund Policy for how the request and timelines work.
Who is eligible?
Any student on an eligible plan who completes the required study hours, full-length tests, and drill milestones is eligible. Full eligibility criteria are listed on the guarantee page.
